The fight that the entire boxing world has been waiting for might actually be closer to happening.
Undefeated WBC welterweight boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is reportedly eying a May 5, 2012 return to the boxing ring according to his adviser Leonard Ellerbe.
The report was announced by Dan Rafael of ESPN.com, and Ellerbe said “We’re looking to make the biggest fight possible and everyone knows what that fight is, the little fella.”
The little fella that Ellerbe is referring to is WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao who takes on Juan Manuel Marquez November 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev.
The main cause for the super fight falling through the first time was due to Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. having disagreements on the blood testing schedule and the style of testing used.
Now that Pacquiao has apparently agreed to the Olympic style testing procedure — Mayweather and his team are open to negotiate — but the fight isn’t a guarantee because Manny has a third fight with Juan Manuel Marquez that he must win to maintain the luster of a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao super-fight.
