As a proud Puerto Rican and New Yorker, my allegiance is naturally toward Miguel Cotto but I used to be a fan of Antonio Margarito until he got caught loading his gloves before he fought Shane Mosley.
When that fight happened it made me wonder was Antonio Margarito using plaster wraps when he beat Miguel Cotto in 2008?
I strongly believe that Antonio Margarito used loaded gloves when he fought Cotto and the evidence is that when Margarito fought without the plaster wraps against Shane Mosley he looked horrible, his punches had no power and Mosley walked right through them.
I picked Margarito to destroy Manny Pacquiao because I thought Margarito’s size and pressure would be too much but I was wrong, he couldn’t put the Pacman down and got beat to a bloody mess against the much smaller Pacquiao. I believe Margarito weighed something like 165 pounds to Manny Pacquiao’s 142 pounds, so if Margarito couldn’t put down Manny without the wraps how is he going to put down Miguel Cotto? Shane Mosley even said that Margarito’s punches didn’t hurt so that should say something.
I understand that Margarito still has a great chin, but the New York commission is not like the Texas commission they will not let a fight continue especially after Miguel Cotto batters Margarito’s bad eye. Cotto will prevail and his body attack and boxing ability will win him the fight and avenge his loss at the hands of the Mexican cheater Margarito. I can see the fire and the hunger for revenge in Cotto’s eyes.
Margarito is a bad guy, and I cannot stand his cocky smile and criminal mentality. When I watched HBO 24/7: Cotto/Margarito and seeing him mock Miguel Cotto and saying that Cotto is a cry baby, it really pissed me off and I don’t care what anyone else says, and all the negative comments saying Cotto is a quitter or he is washed up, I will always have his back not because he is my countryman but because he is a true class act and sportsman, and he will knock that evil grin off of Antonio’s face.
My final prediction: Miguel Cotto by TKO (the doctor or referee will stop the fight after Margarito’s eye swells up again).
