HBO sports presents “On Freddie Roach,” an amazing six-part HBO reality series from director Peter Berg and produced by HBO boxing broadcaster Jim Lampley, which chronicles the life of the Hall of Fame trainer from stories of his childhood, to following him through his everyday routine as a boxing trainer at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood to stars such as Manny Pacquiao, Amir Khan, and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Freddie Roach suffers from Parkinson’s symptoms he believes are boxing related, his style as a boxer was a tough brawler who would take a lot of punches just to give one back. Roach was trained by the legendary Eddie Futch, and after retiring in his 20’s due to Parkinson’s, Roach became a boxing trainer under Futch’s guidance.
“On Freddie Roach” is a very touching and in-depth look into the life of Freddie Roach, his struggles with health issues, the fighters and people around him, and his will to keep on fighting and doing what he loves most, train fighters. Prepare to be inspired.
