After watching videos of the skirmish that ensued between Dereck Chisora and David Haye, I have concluded that Chisora is wrong on at least three levels.
First of all the thing that triggered the friction was a conversation between Vitali Klitschko’s manager Bernd Boente and David Haye, neither were addressing Chisora, Chisora had no business butting in.
Secondly. Dereck Chisora left his seat at the dais where he was sitting and walked towards Haye seeking a confrontation — that action could be conceived as a threat in itself, in which case Haye would be justified in defending himself.
Thirdly, after the melee, Chisora made repeated verbal threats to KILL Haye, I don’t know about Germany and Britain, but in many parts of the world a threat to kill someone is considered as serious as the act itself.
As for Haye, his conversation with Klitschko’s manager, which caused Chisora to get riled up, is something boxers have done ever since the advent of boxing — nothing’s was wrong there!
Regardless of your feelings as to whether Haye should get a shot at Vitali Klitschko or not, Haye was busy selling himself and there is nothing legally wrong with that. What was wrong is Dereck Chisora thuggish out of control behavior which, The British Boxing Authorities Should investigate and punish as necessary.
