Universal Boxing Organization™ World Middleweight Champion Bronco “Superman” McKart (53-9-1, 32 KOs) is set to defend his title on April 28 at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio against streaking Mexican Jose “Stinger” Medina (17-9-1, 7 KOs).
The fight, which was officially announced at a press conference in Toledo this past Friday, will headline a massive card promoted by Turner Boxing Productions in association with living legend Thomas “Hitman” Hearns and Knockout Entertainment.
A donation of at least $10.000 will be given to a charity called Mikies Minutes™, a program that connects US soldiers serving in the field with loved ones at home, and 570 free seats will be available to US Military, both active and disabled. The card will also serve as a fundraiser for the Toledo Police Athletic league and area boxing clubs.
Bronco McKart won the UBO world title in his last fight when he stopped Michi Munoz on seven rounds in his hometown of Monroe, Michigan, and is a former WBO and IBA World Champion. He will be in for a big challenge against Medina, who is undefeated in his last six fights.
Jose Medina, born in Guadalajara but now fighting out of Tilton, New Hampshire, emerged as a top class contender in 2011 by beating the likes of Isaac Rodrigues (17-1), Markus Williams (7-1) and Chris Fitzpatrick (14-0), as well as drawing with former WBA World Champion Joachim Alcine (32-2).
A former undefeated CAM (Canadian American Mexican) titlist, 28-year-old Medina will be going for his first world title on April 28. Thirteen years older at 41, McKart will be in his eighth World Championship fight, so it will be a classic youth vs. experience encounter.
