As I predicted in my last article, I said Floyd Mayweather will put Manny Pacquiao to shame when he beats Miguel Cotto — and he did. Floyd beat up a better version of Cotto than Manny did, this version was not weight drained, he was fully energized, and had an actual boxing trainer this time around to help him prepare.
Money Mayweather put on a dominant performance against an aggressive Cotto who came to win. When Cotto fought Pacquiao he had no energy and wasn’t in the fight at all. Mayweather has put himself head and shoulders above Manny with this win.
Now comes June 9th Manny Pacquiao faces a hungry, smart, undefeated fighter named Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley, the first young prime fighter he has ever faced. I strongly believe this will be one of Pacquiao’s worst performances, his flaws will big exposed big time, and people will finally see how carefully he was brought along by Freddie Roach and Bob Arum with cherry picked opponents to make him look good.
Bradley isn’t the prettiest fighter to watch, but he is much more skilled than Pacquiao. I wasn’t sold on Bradley before, but after studying his fights, I can say the guy knows how to adjust in the ring, and reminds me of a Bernard Hopkins type, they don’t have the prettiest looking punches and come in with their head a lot, but that is how they win fights using sneaky tactics and getting away with it.
The confidence factor also comes into play, Bradley is very confident that he will have an easy time with Pacquiao because he knows how easy it is to exploit the Pacman’s flaws. After seeing Pacquiao struggle against an old Juan Manuel Marquez for a third time and receive a gift decision would make any fighter gain confidence when they fight Pacquiao.
Manny Pacquiao may be older than Timothy Bradley, but this time the teacher will be younger than the student, and Bradley will give the Pacman a lesson in the art of boxing.
