If there was any fight that deserves to be called a highway robbery, the Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley fight takes the cake. I don’t see how a fight that the Pacman clearly dominated and had Bradley backing up all night be given to Bradley. I rewinded and rewatched the fight with the volume off like HBO commentator Max Kellerman said, and I gave only 3 rounds tops to Bradley, the rest went to Pacquiao. With the volume off you can see Bradley looking scared and Pacman chasing him down, Bradley was all talk, saying he was going to bring it, but he instead copied Shane Mosley’s game plan of throwing a flickering jab while backing up, and to top it off he twisted his ankle trying to run away after exchanges.
Bradley used to be a likable guy. I used to really respect Timothy Bradley because he seemed like a good role model and family guy, but after seeing him on 24/7 and his arrogant antics during the weigh-ins and stare downs and his post-fight interview, I lost respect for him. Bradley has no shame! Pacquiao showed class in defeat, he said he tried his best but his best wasn’t good enough, but felt he won before the scorecards were announced. Pacquiao showed more class than Juan Manuel Marquez who was in a very competitive close fights with Pacquiao, instead of being humble Marquez kept crying about being robbed when he knows Pacquiao gave him a tough fight and vice versa. This Bradley fight was different, it was a real robbery, a robbery so bad that the entire world saw it and now it caused a real black eye in boxing. Bradley wasn’t even competitive, he tried but couldn’t land anything significant and did more running and clinching than boxing, the most damage Bradley did in the fight was when the referee failed to break the fighters from a clinch for a couple of seconds and Bradley with his free hand kept punching Pacquiao on his body.
The only way I can see a rematch being justified is if they put it on Free TV like ABC or NBC something like that so the fans don’t have to pay, or at least put it on HBO and not Pay-Per-View. The fans deserve a refund and Pacquiao deserves his title back.
