The Ultimate Fighting Championship is live from Brazil with UFC 147: Wanderlei Silva vs. Rich Franklin II the rematch. UFC legends meet again to even the score as Rich “Ace” Franklin battles Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva in a long awaited rematch. Plus, Fabricio Werdum faces Mike Russow and The Ultimate Fighter Brazil middleweight and featherweight winners are crowned on the same night. Rich Franklin and Mike Russow are the only Americans fighting on the card.
Wanderlei Silva and Rich Franklin first met inside the UFC Octagon back in 2009 at UFC 99, Franklin won a three round decision over the former PRIDE fighting champion, and ever since that day Silva has wanted rematch against Franklin to even the score, on June 23rd in Silva’s native country of Brazil he will get that chance at UFC 147.
Brazilian grappler Fabricio Werdum wants to put on an impressive win against tough Chicago heavyweight fighter Mike Russow, and The Ultimate Fight Brazil will crown the first winners of the middleweight and featherweight teams. TUF Brazil was team Vitor Belfort vs. team Wanderlei Silva, Belfort was originally supposed to fight Silva in the UFC 147 main event but had to pull out due to injury, so Franklin was the replacement.
