UNDEFEATED British welterweight star Kell Brook faces the fight of his life against Carson Jones at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield on Saturday. The 26-year-old will earn a world title shot if he makes it past his American opponent.
Betfair, sponsors of the Edge of Glory fight night, caught up with Brook at the Wincobank gym in Sheffield. Speaking ahead of his match up with Jones, the Yorkshireman said:
“This is my biggest fight to date. It means everything to me. The world’s my oyster after this. I’m in the pipeline for that world title fight that I’ve dreamed of since I was a young kid.
“We know that Jones can be hurt and I’m going to be the man to hurt him. I’m unbeaten and I’m confident that you’re going to see me do the business. When that guy gets hurt he’s going to get finished.
“I’m in touching distance of that world title fight and no-one’s going to take it away from me. Carson Jones from the States – I hope you’re ready because I sure am.”
Having fought in the States last time out, Brook is looking forward to fighting in front of a home crowd. He added:
“It means everything to me to be boxing in Sheffield, my home town. I’m a born and bred Sheffield man, a steel setter. The local fans really get behind you. And I don’t have to travel too far, do I!”
