By Superstar Billy Graham
It’s been over several weeks since that highly controversial split decision giving Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley a victory over Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. It is still buzzing all over the boxing world and it is not slowing down. The split decision victory given to Timothy Bradley is considered to be the worst robbery in mega-fight history. Many believed the former WBO welterweight Champion Manny Pacquiao won the fight decisively, and some felt he dominated the undefeated Timothy Bradley. Some even went further like HBO commentator Max Kellerman, saying Manny Pacquiao completely outclassed Timothy Bradley, Video: King J Interviews Max Kellerman after Pacquiao vs. Bradley .
The vast majority of fans and boxing aficionados voiced their displeasure of the decision, not just believing, but saying Manny Pacquiao clearly won and dominated Timothy Bradley. HBO unofficial judge, Harold Lederman gave a score of 11 rounds to 1 in favor of Manny Pacquiao. Top fighters in the world like Andre Ward, the current top ranked super middleweight fighter and winner of the Showtime Super 6 tournament believed deeply Manny Pacquiao won and his friend Timothy Bradley lost the fight. Ward gave Bradley only 4 rounds and then pointed out that he was being generous. The list of fighters and former fighters ALL felt Timothy Bradley lost. Even known Manny Pacquiao nemesis-es Roger Mayweather, Jeff Mayweather, and Floyd Mayweather Sr said “Pacquiao won the fight”.
So far, The Superstar has yet to hear from any fighter or former fighters who felt Bradley won the fight. The WBO, the sanctioning body of the fight between Bradley vs. Pacquiao, had 5 judges score the fight separately and all 5 gave the decision to Pacquiao. But WBO can not overturn any decision given by the NSAC judges but can request a rematch between the two. However, Bradley vs. Pacquiao already had a rematch clause, so the WBO will not have to request a rematch.
This decision has caused a major tsunami effect in boxing. Senator John McCain and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are involved in organizing a Federal Boxing Commission to oversee the sport of boxing for which over the years has a reputation of being corrupted and linked to criminal organizations. The horrendous decision that gave Manny Pacquiao his first loss since 2005, finally broke the straw. It was a very high profile fight, and this shocking horrendous decision had everyone from casual boxing fans, hardcore boxing fans, to former fighters crying “Fixed” and “Corruption”. It was heard loud and clear, loud enough to be heard in the Senate house. Whether this Federal Boxing Commission will have any effect on boxing’s history with corruption, the jury is still out.
Timothy Bradley looks to be enjoying his new found wealth, thanks to Manny Pacquiao. But thats just about it. Bradley and his team are not relishing the pure enjoyment of beating a legendary iconic fighter Manny Pacquiao but instead are wallowing in defending the victory for which the whole world feels Bradley did not deserve to be given the victory. In a recent interview with Elie Seckbach, Joel Diaz the trainer of Timothy Bradley is upset that he is not enjoying this victory due to constantly having to hear people tell him his fighter lost or having to defend Bradley’s victory.
It has to be hard on Joel Diaz to hear other trainers and legendary fighters say his fighter lost. Joel Diaz admits he doesn’t go onto the internet anymore due to the criticisms Bradley and his team are constantly hearing and reading. The only support Bradley and his team seem to have is from his hometown. If he were to venture outside his hometown of Cathedral City, it is pretty much guarantee the vast overwhelming majority will not acknowledge Bradley’s victory over Pacquiao.
Bradley has been on a mission trying to convince the boxing world he won the fight fair and square. Accusing HBO of being biased, specifically towards Jim Lampley. Unfortunately for Bradley, nobody will buy he won the fight especially if he looks at the punch stats on the compubox score where it was clear Manny Pacquiao dominated Bradley in every category. Pacquiao landed more jabs, landed more punches, and landed more power punches. It was overwhelming Manny Pacquiao dominated Bradley in all of the percentages of punches landed. And to add more reason why Pacquiao dominated Bradley, 10 of the 12 rounds Pacquiao dominated in the punch stats. It would be nearly impossible to convince anyone Bradley beat Pacquiao when those numbers speak volumes on who really won the fight.
HBO did a poll whom the public felt won the fight. Unfortunately for Tim Bradley, nearly 93% felt Manny Pacquiao won while 6% felt Bradley won and 1% thought it was a draw. From the compubox scores, to the public poll, and overwhelming majority of boxing scribes felt Manny Pacquiao was robbed of a victory, Bradley knows he will never get the acceptance that he beat Manny Pacquiao. The Superstar feels Bradley may not honestly believe he won the fight, after what Bradley said during a post fight interview right after the fight, “I will have to watch the film again to see if I won the fight.”
The Superstar has been watching boxing for man years, and The Superstar has never heard a fighter say after a fight he must watch the fight again to see if he actually won the fight. This is an admission by Bradley he may have thought he lost the fight. Fighters know when they won the fight. However, saying he will have to watch the fight again to check if he won, is a fighter who is not confident of his victory. Again, fighters know when they won and they also know when they lost. Legendary fighter, Aaron “Hawk” Pryor said it best, in a recent interview, The Hawk spoke about the Pacquiao vs. Bradley fight and what he felt about Bradley’s victory over Pacquiao. “In his heart, a fighter always knows when he lost,” he said. “What he says don’t mean shit, because you can see it in his eyes. I saw it in Bradley’s eyes.” The Superstar definitely saw the face of a defeated man in Bradley’s eyes before the decision was given.
