The Ultimate Fighting Championship presents the most anticipated rematch in UFC history with UFC 148 Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen II on Saturday, July 7, 2012 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Anderson “The Spider” Silva and Chael “The Gangster from West Linn” Sonnen fought in the UFC octagon in August of 2010, a fight that Sonnen almost won until he got submitted by Silva in the final round of the championship fight. Now is Sonnen’s chance to back up all of his trash talk and redeem himself from his humiliating defeat, and become the new UFC middleweight champion by defeating Silva on July 7th, but Anderson Silva will try and make sure that doesn’t happen because he claims the reason why Sonnen did so good against him in the first fight was because he had an injured rib and this time around he will be 100 percent ready.
Also on the UFC 148 card is the farewell fight of UFC legend “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz, he will fight fan favorite Forrest Griffin in a trilogy fight and retire from fighting win, lose or draw. Tito Ortiz was one of the pioneers who helped push MMA into the mainstream, he was the first true UFC crossover star and one of the best at promoting UFC fights in the early days of the company, he was recently inducted into the UFC hall of fame.
