WBC heavyweight boxing champion Vitali Klitschko will defend his title against unknown challenger Manuel Carr on September 8 at the SC Olimpiyski Sports Arena in Moscow, Russia.
Klitschko (44-2, 40 KOs) holds the WBC world heavyweight championship and has said his retirement hangs on the outcome of the October Ukrainian elections, if he wins in the elections he will retire from boxing and focus on his political career, if he doesn’t win he will continue on to fight a few more fights, most notably a possible match with David Haye who is coming off a huge KO victory of Dereck Chisora.
Vitali has a tough fight in front of him with the undefeated Manuel Charr (21-0, 11 KOs) of Syria, and like Vitali he started his career in kickboxing before transferring over to boxing. It is up to Charr on whether or not he is just another Klitschko victim or he is a legit challenger that can pull of an upset.
