Showtime championship boxing returns to New York’s Madison Square Garden on December 1st with an exciting junior middleweight championship fight between the current undefeated WBA junior middleweight champion Austin “Do Doubt” Trout (25-0, 14 KOs) and former three division champion Puerto Rican boxing star Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30 KOs).
Cotto, 32, has held titles in three different weight classes, light welterweight, welterweight, and junior middleweight, he has fought some of the best in boxing and has only lost to Antonio Margarito, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., he is aiming for another world title at junior middleweight and a possible showdown with Mexican superstar and WBC champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez should he beat Austin Trout on Saturday night. For Trout, 27, this is his first time in a fight of this magnitude, if he beats Cotto which is his toughest test to date, he will make a name for himself in the division and prove to the boxing fans that he isn’t a paper champion but a serious threat to anyone in the 154-pound weight class.
Two fights will air before the Miguel Cotto vs. Austin Trout main event, middleweight bout Danny Jacobs vs. Chris Fitzpatrick and a junior lightweight match Jayson Velez vs. Salvador Sanchez II.
Watch Miguel Cotto vs. Austin Trout, Danny Jacobs vs. Chris Fitzpatrick, Jayson Velez vs. Salvador Sanchez II live on December 8 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.
