Showtime will televise Strikeforce: Nate Marquardt vs. Tarec Saffiedine live from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on January 12, 2012. This will be the final Strikeforce event before the organization is merged with the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship).
The main event for this Strikeforce event will be a welterweight championship bout the current belt holder Nate Marquardt will defend his title against Tarec Saffiedine. Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Champion Daniel Cormier will fight Dion Staring; Former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett will face off against Nandor Guelmino; former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi takes on Mike Kyle in a light heavyweight showdown; and former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza fights UFC veteran Ed Herman in a catchweight bout of 194 pounds.
