Chris “The Heat” Van Heerden (19-0-0 9 KO’s) is a man of faith and desire, overlooked by international fans but praised by local admirers. He has forever dreamed of the opportunities bestowed upon him in his boxing career. Winning the IBO world title in 2011, and defending it two times since is a “blessing”. And he hopes to gain even more recognition, and perhaps opportunities as 2013 reaches full force.
Van Heerden’s March 2nd decision victory to Matthew Hatton defiantly turned a lot of heads. Showing the boxing fundamentals, skills, and not to mention heart it takes to be an adequate world champion. And in time, he hopes he will be rightfully recognized as an elite boxer in the historical welterweight division.
An early to mid-June return is currently penciled in for the hopingly active Van Heerden, likely in his native South Africa. But a venture across the pond to the United States or to Europe is going to be strongly contemplated if he continues his impressively lopsided winning ways.
Van Heerden is hoping to land a highly intriguing bout with Ukrainian Vyacheslav Senchenko, But will face anyone for the proper money and creditability. He would hope a victory over Senchenko earns him a lucrative bout with WBA champion Paulie Malignaggi or IBF beltholder Devon Alexander. One can be assured any of those three contests would provide a war between highly distinguished styles.
Being dedicated to his boxing career than ever let it be known that Chris Van Heerden’s momentum will not be broken by even the very best opposition. And in a blossoming 2013 run Van Heerden is assured his name will make a major splash on the international boxing scene. More news on his career is coming soon!
