On March 2, 2013 Former Pride fighting champion Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva returns to the light-heavyweight division and to Japan the country where he made his name in mixed martial arts to face “All American” Brian Stann in the main event on UFC on FUEL TV 8 Japan 2013. Silva was known as one of the deadliest 205-pound champions in mixed martial arts history, in his prime during the PRIDE fighting days he was feared by many for his brutal swarming style and vicious knees living up to his Axe Murderer nickname, he will return to the Saitama Super Arena in Japan where he fought many of his famous bouts and back to the 205-pound division, Silva will take on the tough, hard hitting former US Marine Brian Stann.
The UFC on Fuel TV 8 card will also feature several other exciting matches including former PRIDE heavyweight favorite Mark Hunt against Sefan Struve, a former PRIDE lightweight champion Takanori Gomi will faced Diego Sanchez in a catchweight bout of 158-lbs, and Hector Lombard who also fought in PRIDE will take on Yushin Okami in a middleweight bought.
