Many young fighters get hyped up and later they fall when they come across their first legitimate challenge, but on Saturday night, the biggest Mexican boxing star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, will prove all of the haters and people who doubted his credibility as a true champion wrong when he faces Austin Trout and defeats him.
Alvarez is (41-0, 30 KO) and Trout is (26-0, 14 KO) but someones “O” has to go and it’s not going to be Canelo’s. I have extreme confidence in Canelo’s capabilities, he will successfully defend his WBC junior middleweight title and capture Trout’s WBA title in the process.
The reason why I am so confident in Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is because of what I have seen from many of his fights. He has the composure of a veteran boxer, and knows how to pick his punches and put his combos together intelligently, he doesn’t waste shots and knows how to apply the right pressure on his opponents.
Trout can move on his feet and try to be slick but it won’t work against Canelo, I don’t believe he beat Miguel Cotto by a wide margin either, I had the fight close, possibly a draw. Canelo also has an extra push to motivate him for this bout — he can avenge his brother Rigoberto’s loss to Austin Trout. How fitting would it be to get revenge on the man who beat your brother for the WBA title and than beating him and taking the WBA title.
The key in this fight will the body attack, if Canelo can apply an early body attack to slow down Trout’s movement it will make the fight easier for him, he also has an underrated stiff jab, when Canelo uses his jab it works well and is very powerful. The only chance Trout has is to box and move, if he tries to trade blows with Canelo like he tried to do with Cotto he will get hurt bad. Canelo will win this by unanimous decision and show the world what I already knew — that he is the real deal.
I can’t wait for the fight and will enjoy seeing a new superstar born. Canelo is already a big name in Mexico but he will transfer that star appeal in the USA, and will carry the torch as the next superstar in boxing.
