The main event is an explosive match-up against two top mixed martial artists both from wrestling backgrounds. Chael Sonnen mainly campaigns at 185 pound weight division but couldn’t pass up a title shot against one of the best UFC champions around and answered the call when Dan Henderson who was originally scheduled to fight Jones pulled out of the fight due to an injury sustained in training. Jon Jones has dominated his competition with elusive and rangy striking combined with amazing take down defense and a height and rich advantage over the majority of his challengers, he is nearly unstoppable, but Chael believes he has the style to beat Jones and finally win the UFC championship belt after failed attempts against UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
The UFC 159 fight card line up; the main event is a 205-pound championship bout Jon Jones (Champ) vs. Chael Sonnen, Michael Bisping will take on Alan Belcher in a middleweight bout, Heavyweights Roy Nelson and Cheick Kongo will slug it out in what could end up with knockout of the night, light heavyweight’s Phil Davis and Vinny Magalhaes will be a show down of wrestler vs. Brazilian jiu jitsu specialist, and Jim Miller and Pat Healy will duke it out in a lightweight opener.
