On HBO Boxing After Dark, the hottest middleweight in boxing, Gennady Golovkin will headline a triple header boxing event from the Foxwoods Resort in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
The undefeated Golovkin (26-0, 23 KOs) currently holds the WBA middleweight championship belt and is considered the number two 160-pounder in the world right behind the current WBC champion Sergio Martinez. What makes Golovkin so special is his ability to pressure an opponent intelligently without getting careless and finishing them off when he sees the opportunity, he also has a decorated amateur boxing background. His opponent will be the tough Irish boxer Matthew Macklin (29-4, 20 KOs) who is best known for putting up a valiant effort in a loss to Sergio Martinez.
On the undercard of Golovkin vs. Macklin, two undefeated super-middleweights Thomas Oosthuizen (21-0-1, 13 KOs) and Brandon Gonzales (17-0, 10 KOs) will square off in the ring, and Willie Nelson (20-1-1, 12 KOs) will take on Luciano Cuello (32-2, 16 KOs) in a light middleweight match.
