HBO World Championship Boxing goes to the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada for a world championship event and double header pitting WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (31-2-17 KOs) against hometown star Adonis Stevenson (20-1-17 KOs) with Yuriorkis Gamboa (22-0-16 KOs) versus Darleys Perez (28-0-19 KOs) in a lightweight opening bout to kick off the broadcast.
“Bad” Chad Dawson is coming off a stoppage loss to super middleweight king Andre Ward, a fight where he felt he was drained and shouldn’t have agreed to go down in weight to fight. Now Dawson is back in his natural weight class and ready to defend his WBC belt against the tough Haitian Canadian contender Adonis Stevenson.
The undefeated Yuriorkis Gamboa is ready to step up another weight division when he moves up to lightweight to test himself against the undefeated Colombian Darleys Perez. Gamboa vs. Perez is an even match-up since both boxers are undefeated but Gamboa has the experience in 12 round fights, while this is going to be the first 12 round fight for Perez.
