ESPN Friday Night Fights will broadcast live from Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada with a 10-round Super Bantamweight main event that features Filipino power puncher Drian “Gintong Kamao” Francisco (24-1-1, 19 KOs) against Chris “The Hitman” Avalos (21-2, 16 KOs) on July 12th. The card is promoted by Top Rank and presented by Corona Extra.
Drian Francisco is trained by Manny Pacquiao’s former assistant trainer Justin Fortune who helped get Pacquiao ready for the majority of his early fights in the United States before leaving Freddie Roach’s Wild Card gym to start up his own boxing gym. Fortune is sold on Francisco’s punching power and believes he has the goods to win a world title at 122-pounds.
Chris Avalos hails from California and is coming off of a TKO win over Jose Luis Araiza. Avalos like Franciscio wants to win a world title in the Super Bantamweight division, a big win in impressive fashion is what both guys are aiming for in hopes of moving forward to title shot down the line.
