VERONA, NY (August 22, 2013)—Tomorrow Night at the Turning Stone Casino Resort it will be a historic night of boxing as legendary Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson will promote his first show under his new company Iron Mike Promotions.
The show, which will be televised on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights is co-promoted with Greg Cohen Promotions; will feature two world title bouts.
In the main event, Argenis Mendez will defend the IBF Jr. Lightweight title against Arash Usmanee.
Usmanee is promoted by Greg Cohen Promotions.
On the undercard two members from Vito Mielnicki’s GH3 Promotions will be featured.
In a six round Middleweight bout, Antoine Douglas will take on Edgar Perez in a six round bout while Heavyweight Dorsett Barnwell will take on the veteran Marlon Hayes.
Douglas of Washington, DC has a record of 8-0 and is looking forward to his third appearance at the Turning Stone Casino Resort.
“Training has been great. I am ready as usual and I feel stronger that I ever have.”, said Douglas.
He does not know what to expect from Perez, who will bring in a record of 5-5 with 3 knockouts.
“I don’t know much on Perez. I saw a little footage and I know that he comes straight forward and is durable.”
Douglas is looking forward to competing in front of the iconic Tyson.
“I am excited to fight in front of Tyson. I cant wait to meet him. I plan for the victory as usual”
Barnwell (9-0, 4 KO’s) of Norfolk, Virginia is looking forward to getting his 10th victory.
“Camp was great. I am in tip-top shape and I feel great”
In Hayes (23-12 with 11 knockouts), Barnwell will be facing his most experienced foe by a wide margin.
“Hayes was a lighter weight. He has fought a lot between Middleweight and Light Heavyweight. I expect him to be active and throw a lot of punches. I am not expecting much power from him. I expect him to stay on the outside and survive”
Barnwell, looks to impress Tyson who will sitting ringside.
“Being a Heavyweight it’s a special thing. He is one of the all-time greats and was the total package. It will be great to perform in front of him”
Said promoter Vito Mielnicki, “Greg and I have been moving our young guys this year and we look forward to seeing Arash win the world title and we expect big wins from Dorsett and Antoine”
