While everyone is talking about the Mayweather vs. Canelo fight, they are over looking the Danny Garcia vs Lucas Matthysse co-main event. I don’t blame the people for not having any interest since the majority of the ones paying for this pay-per-view are casual fans who only watch when big names like Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fight, but this is a can’t miss undercard bout.
Usually these big pay-per-view events don’t have stacked undercards, most of the bouts are not meaningful and are just up and coming guys trying to pad their record. The arena’s are empty during big boxing events, unlike the UFC which is packed from the first fight tot he last boxing seems to attract mainly the gamblers and status seekers.
This fight between Danny Garcia and Lucas Matthysse is going to be insane for the hardcore fans who know both guys they will tell you this is the reason they ordered Floyd Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez. When you have the two best 140 pounders in the world and the two best 154 pounders in the world on the same card it’s worth the price of admission, this is a rarity in boxing, when you have two championship fights that could each be their own main event on the same fight card.
Garcia and Matthysse are both hard hitting fighters that can end the fight with one punch, which fighter will land first and which one will be able to take a punch better I can’t wait to find out. I can’t make a prediction but all I can say is the fans will be the winner, because this fight is either going to end in a knock out or an intense hard fought 12 round decision.
