Canelo Alvarez is just another built up fighter that the media tries to pump up to beat Floyd Mayweather just like they tried to hype up Manny Pacquiao. This is all part of the business of boxing. You have to create hype to sell a fight and we all know the haters love to order Money May’s fights.
Boxing is a sport that not many people can appreciate so they have to market these fighters like Canelo and Pacquiao to the casual fans. The majority of casual fans want to see a blood and guts warrior, a Rocky or Arturo Gatti type. The sad thing about it is they don’t care about the health of the fighter, its like they have a blood lust that needs to be satisfied.
Floyd Mayweather is truly an extraordinary boxing legend. He is one of a kind and he epitomizes the sweet science of hit and don’t get hit. For the casual fans they call this boring and these type of class boxers who mastered the art of boxing are unappreciated. You heard the words coward and ducker come out of the Mayweather haters mouths, but how can he be a coward if he is stepping into the ring to fight? So a smart boxer is a coward while a dumb boxer who gets hit and knocked out is a brave fighter? All I have to say to the morons who call Floyd a coward is “learn about boxing” and get in the ring and do what he does, stop being a bunch of keyboard warriors. Most of these guys can’t even throw a punch or run 20 feet without gassing out and they have the nerve to call another man who fights for a living a coward?
Now back to the Mayweather vs. Canelo fight. Canelo really doesn’t have much of a shot besides a punchers chance against Floyd. I am being completely honest and this is not to say that Canelo is a sorry fighter because he is actually much better than Manny Pacquiao and much more dangerous. The reason I say he has no shot is because he doesn’t possess the tools to give Floyd a tough fight. He doesn’t pressure fight, and he has horrible stamina. All he can do is hope to land one of those lucky shots like he landed on Austin Trout.
When you compare Floyd and Canelo’s fights with Carlos Baldomir and Shane Mosley there is no question who fought the better versions of both fighters — it’s Mayweather by a landslide. Oscar De La Hoya is setting up another one of his fighters for failure, he has picked almost every fighter Floyd went against to beat him but every time he was wrong. Now De La Hoya claims he has the blueprint to beat Floyd and he is passing it to Canelo, the suckers are going to believe it too.
Honestly speaking, if you are going to order this fight in hopes of Canelo Alvarez pulling off an upset over Floyd Mayweather you are going to leave disappointed, so order this fight not for the chance to see Mayweather lose for the first time but to witness a once in a lifetime legend before he hangs up the gloves.
