The highest paid athlete in all of sports, Floyd “Money” Mayweather is back and he will be facing the superstar of Mexican boxing, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on September 14 in Las Vegas. Also part of the event is a light welterweight title bout between Danny “Swift” Garcia and Argentine slugger Lucas Matthysse in what boxing experts feel could end in a stunning knockout.
Floyd Mayweather (44-0, 26 KOs) has it all the money, the women, the fame, and the accolades, but does he still have the hunger to win? that will be the main question when he takes on a determined Canelo Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KOs) on Saturday night. The fight will pit youth versus experience, and strength versus slickness, its a style match-up that has casual fans and boxing fans intrigued.
On paper Floyd Mayweather should win, stylistically Canelo Alvarez plays into his game, but who knows because one punch can change the entire outcome of the fight. The biggest issue here is the stamina and gas tank of Canelo, he tends to fade in fights and doesn’t throw many punches, Floyd’s best bet is to do what he always does and that is box and move.
The undercard co-feature is a WBA and WBC light welterweight fight with champion Danny Garcia (26-0, 16 KOs) taking on the most feared 140-pounder in the game Lucas Matthysse (34-2, 32 KOs). There isn’t much to say about this event other than do not miss it, this is going to be worth ever penny spent on the pay-per-view because both guys can punch and finish the fight with their power alone.
Watch “The ONE” Floyd Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez and Danny Swift Garcia vs. Lucas Matthysse live on Showtime PPV on Sept 14 at 9 pm ET/PT.
