Scottish WBO lightweight world boxing champion Ricky Burns (36-2, 11 KOs) puts hits title on the line when he faces challenger Raymundo Beltran (28-6, 17 KOs) at the Scottish Exhibition Centre, Glasgow, Scotland on September 7th.
Burns, 30, is best known for his wins against Roman Martinez for the super featherweight WBO belt, and the always exciting Michael Katsidis for the WBO lightweight title which he still holds to this day. At 5’10 he is a tall and lanky lightweight who relies on his reach to offset his opponents, he will face a tough test in journeyman Ray Beltran who is hungry to win a world title.
Beltran, 32, was born in Mexico but moved to the United States at a young age, he has trained with some of the best boxing trainers in the world especially the hall of fame trainers Emmanuel Steward and Freddie Roach. He is best known for being Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao’s chief sparring partner for many years. He has been the victim of many questionable decisions which makes his 11 loss record deceiving, his biggest win was an upset victory over Hank Lundy. He is hungry to win his first world title against Burns even going to his hometown to fight him.
