One of the greatest boxing trilogies of recent memory is the brutal battles fought between light-welterweight sluggers “Irish” Micky Ward and the late Arturo “Thunder” Gatti which made up the early part of the 2000’s.
The fights have become instant classics and were televised by HBO, the most memorable of the battles was the first fight with Arturo Gatti nearly out from a Mick Ward body shot in the 9th round but refusing to go down again and overcoming the pain firing back to survive the round and to last the distance.
HBO’s Legendary Nights: The Tale of Gatti-Ward will go over the great rivalry with Micky Ward and other boxing writers as they discuss the action, also covered in the documentary series is the strong bond Ward and Gatti developed outside the ring until his untimely death.
