Tonight on HBO World Championship Boxing undefeated WBA and IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin from Kazakhstan defends his title against New York’s own Curtis Stevens, and undefeated heavyweights Magomed Abdusalamov of Russia and Mike Perez of Cuba will square off in the opening bout.
Gennady Golovkin is widely considered the best Middleweight champion right behind Sergio Martinez, and he is best known for his decorated amateur boxing background and his current professional run at middleweight. Golovkin is also considered one of the most feared men in boxing, he has a patient pressure fighting style where he picks his shots wisely and unloads with thudding power. His opponent is the hard hitting underdog out of Brownsville, New York, Curtis Stevens, who can knockout anyone with either hand and is hungry to win his first world title against one of the top 10 best boxers in the world.
The opening bout of the HBO World Championship Boxing broadcast will be a battle between two undefeated possible heavyweight contenders Magomed Abdusalamov who has won all 18 of his fights by KO and Cuban born Mike Perez who also has an impressive KO ration with 12 of his 19 bouts coming by way of knockout.
