The Ultimate Fighting Championship heads to Fort Campbell in Kentucky on Wednesday November 6 to support the United States armed forces with UFC Fight Night 31 also known as Fight for the Troops 3, several of the MMA fighters on the card have military backgrounds. The main event of the evening is a middleweight match between former Army Green Beret Tim Kennedy against Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu stand out Rafael Natal.
Kennedy was best known for his run in Strikeforce having fought for the title twice but falling short all while serving as an active Army Green Beret, he was acquired by the UFC and made his debut at UFC 162 where he won a decision over Roger Gracie. His opponent Rafael Natal is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist and UFC veteran coming off a three fight win streak. The winner of Kennedy vs. Natal moves closer to a middleweight title shot.
Also on the card as the co-feature is former Marine Liz Carmouche facing Alexis Davis in a women’s bantamweight bout, and lightweight contender Jorge Masvidal versus Rustam Khabilov. The event will be televised live on Fox Sports 1.
