At UFC 162 Chris Weidman shocked the mixed martial arts world when he knocked out the pound for pound greatest MMA fighter of all time, Anderson Silva.
The KO had many fight fans claim the fight was fixed or the punch was lucky, they were left in disbelief that the man who reigned the middleweight division for so many years would lose his title in that fashion.
On Saturday night December 28 just before New Year’s, they will rematch in the Octagon, this time it’s Silva challenging for the title against Weidman.
The co-feature is a much anticipated rematch between to female fighters who truly can’t stand being around each other, Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate for the women’s bantamweight championship.
They first met in 2012 in the Strikeforce cage, the fight was intense, with Tate giving a good fight to the undefeated Strikeforce champion, until Rousey latched onto Miesha’s arm and submitted her with her signature armbar. Tate says she won’t make the same mistake twice and sees weakness that she can exploit in Rousey’s stand up game.
Also on the card is the return of the former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett. He stopped Randy Couture by TKO in 2002 to win the heavyweight title at UFC 36. Unorthodox striker Travis Browne will be his opponent at UFC 168.
