Two championship bouts in one night will be on UFC 169 on February 1, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on YouTube PPV live video stream. UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao will rematch Urijah Faber in the main event, and as the co-main event Jose Aldo will defend his featherweight belt against Ricardo Lamas.
UFC 169 was supposed to feature the return of bantamweight champion Domnick Cruz who had to take a long layoff to recover from an injury, but Cruz again suffered injury in training and had to pull out of the fight. Faber stepped up as the late replacement and Barao was named the legit champion at 135-pounds after holding the interim belt because Cruz officially vacated the title after pulling out of this event.
One of the top pound for pound mixed martial artists in the world is Brazilian phenom Jose Aldo, he holds the 145-pound featherweight title and has yet to lose in the UFC. Nipping at his heels is American challenger Ricardo Lamas who has a wrestling background but has been impressive winning his last four fights earning him a title shot against Aldo.
Another exciting match up on the card is Frank Mir vs. Alistair Overeem. The two heavyweights are coming off of multiple loses, they will duke it out in a make or break fight between aging legends to see who can bounce back on the road to redemption.
