UFC 170 will be headlined by MMA superstar and current women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, she will take on tough wrestler Sara McMann, and the co main event will feature Olympic wrestler Daniel Cormier against late replacement Patrick Cummins in a light heavyweight bout. The event will be shown online via Pay-Per-View live stream on various platforms such as YouTube, Ustream, and UFC.TV on Feb 22, 2014 at 10/7 PM ET/PT.
Ronda Rousey is a well known Olympic Judoka, and she is undefeated in her mixed martial arts career, having finished everyone of her fights by armbar. She has yet to find an opponent who can defend her deadly submission move, but challenger Sara McMann believes she can avoid being caught in the trap and use her Olympic level wrestling to dominate the fight.
Rousey is the betting favorite but McMann is a live underdog, the fight will be interesting because it pits a Judo player against a wrestler.
The original plan was to put former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans versus Daniel Cormier on the UFC 170 card but Evans suffered a leg injury during training camp, and instead of canceling the fight Cormier opted to fight a late replacement in UFC newcomer and huge underdog Patrick Cummins. This will be Cormier’s debut at 205-pounds coming down from heavyweight.
