HBO Boxing After Dark returns with a hard hitting doubleheader broadcast featuring Sergey Kovalev vs. Cedric Agnew and Karim Mayfield vs. Thomas Dulorme live from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on March 29 at 10:00 PM ET/PT.
In the main event, undefeated Russian power puncher and current WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (23-0, 21 KOs) will take on fellow undefeated Cedric Agnew (26-0, 13 KOs) of Chicago.
Boxing fans love power and Kovalev rose to the limelight when he delivered dominating knockout performances as he climbed the ranks and won the title. He is considered one of the most feared men in boxing because of his brutal finishing power and unorthodox style.
The challenger Agnew is a significant underdog heading into the fight, he was able to land this bout after winning a decision victory over Yusaf Mack.
The opening bout for the HBO telecast will be a junior welterweight showdown between the highly touted Thomas Dulorme (20-1, 14 KOs) of Puerto Rico, and unbeaten Karim Mayfield (18-0-1, 11 KOs) of San Francisco, California.
Dulorme will be fighting on HBO for the second time, his first appearance on the network was in 2012 he wound up losing for the first time to Argentine slugger Luis Carlos Abregu. Mayfield is best known for his days as Manny Pacquiao’s chief sparring partner, video circulated on YouTube of him giving the Filipino boxing legend a hard time during their sparring sessions. He wants to win convincingly tonight to hopefully land a title shot in the deep 140-pound division.
