Tonight on Showtime Championship Boxing, former four-division world champion Robert Guerrero returns to the boxing ring to face Japanese slugger Yoshihiro Kamegai in a welterweight main event, also on the card is undefeated American Gary Russell Jr fighting for the vacant WBO featherweight tile against two time Ukrainian Olympic Gold Medalist Vasyl Lomachenko, and Devon Alexander vs. Jesus Soto Karass in a welterweight bout.
Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero has been through many struggles in life, but he is a true champion and believes even though he had a setback losing tot he pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr in his last fight, he can still climb back to the top and ultimately get a big title shot rematch against Mayweather or a title shot against Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao.
Guerrero’s opponent tonight is a little known fighter from the far east, his name is Yoshihiro Kamegai, the unknown journeyman can also be some of the most dangerous opponents since they have nothing to lose.
Two decorated Amateur boxers, Gary Russell Jr and Vasyl Lomachenko come from two different parts of the world, but both fought for their countries, and now will fight for a title at featherweight. Lomachenko previously fought for the WBO belt in only his second pro fight but lost to Orlando Salido. This will be Russell Jr’s first title shot after over 20 pro bouts.
Devon Alexander is looking to regain momentum after losing his IBF welterweight strap to Shawn Porter last year, and he will have to face rugged Mexican pressure fighter Jesus Soto Karass on the way to his goal.
