Nebraska native Terence Crawford will put his WBO lightweight boxing championship belt on the line against the Cuban Olympic Gold medalist and former title holder Yuriorkis Gamboa on June 28 edition of HBO’s Boxing After Dark.
Crawford (23-0 16 KOs) won the WBO title from Scottish fighter Ricky Burns earlier this year. He is considered one of the young champions to look out for because of his supreme boxing IQ and desire to put on a perfect technical match every time he steps into the ring. He plans on moving up to 147 in the near future and his height and rich gives him that opportunity to do so.
Gamboa is 23 and 0 with titles at 126 and 130 he is now going up another weight division to try and capture a lightweight title. He is one of the best Cuban amateur boxers and a former Olympic Gold Medalist. He is promoter by 50 cent’s SMS promotions and is one of the most exciting fighters in boxing.
The opening bout for the HBO BAD TV broadcast is another battle of undefeated fighters, Matt Korobov vs. Jose Uzcategui.
Korobov is a standout Russian Southpaw who likes to throw punches in bunches, he is in a evenly matched bout with fellow undefeated fighter and Uzcategui who is known for a heavy right hand punch.
