Shawn Porter and Kell Brook are two undefeated welterweights heading into a world championship fight as the main event on Showtime Championship Boxing, and both guys plan on putting on a show. The event will take place at the StubHub Center in Carson, California on August 16 and will also feature two other world title fights Sakio Bika vs. Anthony Dirrell for the WBC super middleweight title, and Omar Figueroa vs. Daniel Estrada for the WBC lightweight title.
Undefeated American champion Shawn Porter (22-0-1-15 KOs) is the holder of the IBF welterweight belt, he defeated Devon Alexander by unanimous decision to capture the title and defended it for the first time against veteran Paulie Malignaggi, stopping him by TKO in the 4th round.
Brook (32-0-22 KOs)has never fought for a world title before, he is fighting away from his hometown of Sheffield, United Kingdom and over in the United States which is the American champions territory. This is something he has dreamed of for his entire boxing career, and he finally has his opportunity for a championship belt.
Sakio Bika vs. Anthony Dirrell (WBC super middleweight title)
WBC super middleweight champion Sakio Bika and Anthony Dirrell last fought in 2013 and the fight ended in a draw. The Bika vs. Dirrell rematch is to settle the score on a very close fight and leave no doubt in the eyes of the fans who really won.
Omar Figueroa won the WBC lightweight title against Jerry Belmontes last April, in what many felt was a close tough fight that could have gone either way. Tonight he defends his title against a tough Mexican puncher in Daniel Estrada. Figueroa’s belt is not only on the line but his undefeated record as well.
