Bernard Hopkins makes his return to HBO world championship boxing with a title unification bout against unbeaten WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev live from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on November 8.
Hopkins is 49 years old and still among the pound for pound best boxers in the world today, he holds the IBF and WBA light heavyweight titles, and keeps taking on younger and fresher opponents. On Saturday night, he meets a man who is considered a deadly puncher, Sergey Kovalev who is known for his aggressive punching approach and heavy handed finishing power.
The fight is intriguing and probably the biggest and most competitive match on paper for year 2014. Boxing fans are wondering if the old champion will finally bite off more than he can chew with Kovalev or will he once against defeat a young undefeated champion to further add to his already established legacy?
Also on the card as the opening bout for the Televised broadcast will be rising welterweight prospect Sadam Ali against tough Argentine slugger Luis Carlos Abregu.
Bernard Hopkins vs. Sergey Kovalev, Sadam Ali vs. Luis Carlos Abregu airs on November 8, at 10:45/7:45 PM ET/PT on HBO and shortly after the live boxing event, 24/7 Pacquiao/Algieri will premiere.
