Bernard “The Alien” Hopkins a 49 year old boxing legend took on the undefeated Russian “Krusher” Sergey Kovalev at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on Saturday night for a light heavyweight championship unification bout between the two best fighters in the division.
The bout was a battle of contrasting styles, Hopkins a professor in the ring with crafty tactics of a grizzled veteran of the game, and Kovalev a hard charging puncher with unorthodox movement that is hard to time.
HBO world championship boxing televised the Hopkins vs. Kovalev event live with top welterweight prospect Sadam Ali taking on durable Luis Carlos Abregu on the undercard. Roy Jones Jr, Max Kellerman, Jim Lampley, and Harold Lederman called the action live ringside.
In case you missed the Hopkins vs. Kovalev and Ali vs. Abregu broadcast, HBO will show replays of the bout through out the week starting on Sunday morning on various platforms such has HBO2 and HBO On Demand.
