The long awaited super fight between unbeaten Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr and Filipino boxing legend Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao was finally announced on February 20th via Floyd’s Shots app account.
The boxing world waited and waited for years for this fight to happen only to be let down each time, and recently the fight seemed hopeful only for fans to give up again until Mayweather officially agreed to the terms and verified it on social media.
The picture posted on social media by Mayweather was the signed portion of the contract with Floyd and Manny’s signature on it. Both fighters remained silent on details because they agreed that the fight will be announced by Mayweather first.
Once the fight was announced, Pacquiao answered back to doubters on his official Instagram page by posting up a picture he took days ago of his signed portion of the contract without Floyd’s signature on it. A lot of pro Mayweather fans were calling Pacquiao and Bob Arum liars for saying they signed their end of the agreement claiming there was no contract and the duo was lying. Pacquiao proved he was indeed telling the truth by posting his signature which also included that of his promoter Bob Arum.
Mayweather vs. Pacquiao will take place at welterweight with each fighters belts on the line, the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada will host it on May 2, 2015, it will be a joint Pay-Per-View production with HBO and Showtime, the PPV price has yet to be set, the broadcast team will be split between each network, and the press conference to announce the fight will be limited to 2 to 3 cities. More information will be released to the media in the following days.
