Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Miguel Cotto will take place at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 21, live on HBO Pay-Per-View.
Canelo vs. Cotto is promoted by Jay Z’s Roc Nation sports and Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy promotions. The event will feature three undercard bouts including the return of unbeaten Cuban sensation Guillermo Rigondeaux.
Canelo Alvarez is the biggest boxing star out of Mexico, his only defeat came at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr., but he felt he has learned from that loss and will not make the same mistakes against Cotto.
Cotto who lost to Antonio Margarito, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather and Austin Trout, has a resurgence in the middleweight division under tutelage of boxing trainer Freddie Roach. Cotto under Roach won the middleweight title by stopping Sergio Martinez, he was stripped of the WBC title after failing to pay sanctioning fees, so only Canelo will have the chance to win the WBC middleweight belt. The fight is at a catchweight of 155 pounds.
On the undercard, Guillermo Rigondeaux one of the most technically sound defensive boxers will return against Filipino puncher Drian Francisco in a 122 pound non title bout.
The other two fights on the under card are super-featherweights Takashi Miura vs. Francisco Vargas, and featherweights Jayson Velez vs. Ronny Rios.
Canelo Alvarez vs. Miguel Cotto takes place on November 21, 2015, live at 9:00 PM ET, on HBO PPV.
