TACOMA, Wash. – Brian Halquist Productions return to the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma with the 105th installment of the Battle at the Boat boxing series on March 26.
Headlining the card will be a 10-round main event between super middleweights Zane Marks and Dionisio Miranda, while Isaac Tadeo will look to stay undefeated when he squares off against Chad McKinney in a clash of middleweights.
Tickets are available through the EQC box office and all Ticket Master Outlets. Battle at the Boat 105 will have preliminary bouts starting at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Marks (19-7-0, 11 KOs) brings a two-bout winning streak into the contest, including a victory over previous undefeated Travis Scott, who was a perfect 18-0 before falling to Marks, on Sept. 18, 2015.
In Marks’ corner will be the well-known trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr., who is the father and trainer of the soon to be hall of famer, Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather Sr. was in his son’s corner last year during one of the biggest fight in boxing history when Mayweather Jr. defeated Manny Pacquiao on May 2, 2015.
Local fight fans last saw Marks fight in 2010 when he dropped a majority decision to Kingsley Ikeke in a bout for the World Boxing Association NABA Super Middleweight championship.
“Marks comes to fight every time and always puts on a show,” promoter Brian Halquist said. “We’re excited to have him back. The last time we saw him here he put on a war with Ikeke that could have easily gone his way. He leaves everything in the ring, every time he steps between those ropes.”
Standing in Marks’ way will be knockout specialist Miranda, a former NABA and WBC Continental Americas middleweight title holder. Miranda (22-14-2, 19 KOs) has been in the ring with several boxers who have fought for world titles during their careers, including Peter Quillin, Marco Antonio Rubio, Roman Karmazin, Giovanni Lorenzo, Sebastien Demers and Lajuan Simon, who challenged Arthur Abraham for the IBF World middleweight.
Simon lost to Abraham, the world’s current top-ranked super middleweight, in 2009, by unanimous decision. Miranda defeated Simon for the WBC Continental Americas middleweight title in 2010.
Miranda has won 22 fights during his career with 19 coming via knockout.
“Miranda brings a ton of power into this fight,” Halquist said. “The 19 knockouts are certainly eye-catching. You look at who he has fought and that’s equally impressive.”
In the co-semi main event Tadeo (6-0-0, 3 KOs) will look to keep his undefeated record intact. Tadeo, a resident of Auburn, Wash., defeated a game Cameron Sevilla Rivera (6-1-1) his last time out at Battle at the Boat 105.
“Isaac’s popularity continues to grow in the Pacific Northwest,” Halquist said. “He showed a lot during his last appearance at Battle at the Boat. He just continues to get better every time he steps into the ring.”
In the other co-semi main event, local favorite Zach Cooper (3-1-2, 2 KOs) faces Andres Reyes (3-1-0) in a junior middleweight clash.
Highlighting the undercard will be bout featuring a pair of Tacoma Golden Gloves champions in Andre Keys (1-0-0, KO) and Guillermo Maldonado (1-0-0).
Keys, who began his amateur career with the Tacoma Boxing Club, is a five-time Tacoma Golden Gloves champion, while Maldonado’s amateur career featured a pair of local titles.
