On April 23, the Ultimate Fighting Championship hosts the return of former Light Heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones, he will go up against late replacement Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197 with Flyweight championship bout Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson vs. Henry Cejudo as the co-feature – the event will be available for live video stream on YouTube Pay-Per-View.
Jon Jones won the UFC light heavyweight title back in 2011 at UFC 128, making him the youngest fighter to hold the belt in that division. He would defend his title successful until 2015 when he was officially suspended and stripped of the belt after he was involved in a hit-and-run incident. Daniel Cormier who lost to Jones at UFC 182 replaced Jones for UFC 187 after he was stripped and suspended and beat Anthony Johnson for the championship belt.
Jones has been open about his drug usage, and troubles, after he was reinstated to fight, he was scheduled to have a rematch against Cormier for UFC 187, but Cormier got injured in camp forcing him to pull out of the fight. Jones will now face explosive former college football player and Strikeforce veteran Ovince Saint Preux.
The co-main event pits UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson against unbeaten 2008 Olympic gold medalist wrestler Henry Cejudo. Johnson is one of the most technical fighters in MMA, and is officially ranked as the number 2 best pound for pound fighter in the world according UFC rankings. Cejudo isn’t as experienced as Johnson, but he strongly believes his wrestling and boxing is the key to defeat the long reigning champion.
