After capturing the vacant IBF heavyweight championship against Vyacheslav Glazkov, 29-year-old American Champion Charles Martin will travel abroad to London, England to defend his title for the first time against British Olympic Gold medalist Anthony Joshua in his own backyard.
Martin an undefeated champion holds a record of 23 wins, 0 losses and 1 draw, and many people are questioning the legitimacy of his title, having won it in a freak stoppage after his opponent suffered a bad leg injury in the ring. For Martin he is out to prove his win wasn’t a fluke by beating the highly touted British heavyweight Joshua.
Anthony Joshua, 26, is a true physical specimen, standing 6 foot 6 inches tall and a body built like a comic book super hero, he achieved boxing glory when he won the Gold in the 2012 Olympic games and the following year turned professional. He has 15 pro bouts and every single one ending by way of knockout, making him one of the most fearsome punchers in the division.
The Joshua vs. Martin heavyweight title bout will be televised live from the O2 Arena in London, England, April 9th at 5:00PM ET/2:00PM PT on SHOWTIME.
