HBO Boxing After Dark will feature an action packed double header Francisco Vargas vs. Orlando Salido / Julian Ramirez vs. Abraham Lopez on June 4 live from the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Unbeaten WBC super featherweight champion Francisco Vargas (23-0-1, 17 KOs) will defend his title against rugged veteran Orlando Salido (43-13-3, 30 KOs) in a fight that almost never came to fruition when Vargas tested positive for trace amounts of the banned drug clenbuterol in April. Vargas claimed the positive test was due to eating tainted meat and was allowed to fight under one condition that he undergo stricter VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency) testing.
Vargas and Salido are both known for being Mexican warriors willing to go toe to toe in fights. The come forward fighters have the style to deliver a fight of the year style battle.
The opening fight will feature two unbeaten American featherweights, Julian Ramirez vs. Abraham Lopez and could also deliver fireworks between to hungry young rising stars.
Ramirez is 18 and 0 with 8 knockouts and is training by former boxing champion Wayne McCullough, Lopez is trained by Joel Diaz and boasts are record of 20 wins 0 losses and 1 draw, with 15 of his wins by way of knockout.
