WBO super featherweight champion and 2 time Olympic gold medalist Vasyl “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko of Ukraine will put his title on the line against unbeaten Jamaican power puncher Nicholas “Axe Man” Walters live on November 26 on HBO World Championship Boxing.
Lomachenko (6-1, 4 KOs) is a two division world champion and currently holds the WBO 130 pound belt, he only has a handful of professional fights and fought for a world title in only his second professional bought against a overweight tough veteran champion Orlando Salido, he was fouled several times in the fight but started picking up in the later rounds, only to lose a decision in the end. It was a learning experience and he won the title in his next fight against Gary Russell Jr. and moved up in weight to win another belt.
Walters (26-0-1, 21 KOs) is a former WBA featherweight champion, he holds an unblemished record, and is best known for his one punch knockout power. He has highlight real KO’s of Vic Darchinyan and Nonito Donaire. Walters believes his size and power will be too much for the slick Ukrainian. Walters feels he is being overlooked because talks of a Manny Pacquiao vs Vasyl Lomachenko were already being discussed prior to this bout.
Before the Walters vs. Lomachenko live event, HBO will rebroadcast the controversial Sergey Kovalev vs. Andre Ward light heavyweight championship bout from last week.
