The Andre Ward vs. Sergery Kovalev full fight replay will be aired November 26 before the live HBO broadcast of Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Nicholas Walters.
The Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev fight was a significant bout because it would crown the number one pound for pound fighter in the world since Floyd Mayweather’s retirement. Ward and Kovalev were rated by many boxing analysts as the top two pound for pound boxers in the world. The fight ended in controversy, with Ward squeaking out the decision on all four judges score cards after surviving a knockdown in the second round.
The majority of press row and fans had Kovalev winning the fight by a few rounds, after the knockdown it seemed that Ward was in survival mode content with moving back and jabbing and clinching Kovalev. One theory for Ward’s victory was Ward surviving the early knockdown may have impressed the judges.
The fight was so controversial people wanted to see a replay of it, HBO will show it entirely on HBO free preview weekend.
