Two undefeated fighters Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward will go head to head on November 19 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas live on HBO Pay-Per-View.
Former super middleweight champion Andre Ward goes up in weight to challenge Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev for his IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight world titles. The winner of Kovalev vs. Ward will also claim the right to the pound for pound throne that was vacated since former King Floyd Mayweather retired.
Ward hails from Oakland, California and has reigned supreme in the 168 pound divisions, having cleared the division out and no longer being able to make the weight division he decided to move up to 175 pounds and challenge the dangerous punching Russian, Sergey Kovalev.
Both of these boxers are unbeaten, and ranked in the top 5 pound for pound lists of boxing. With Mayweather retired, the throne is vacant. Ward won the Gold Medal in the 2004 Athens Olympics and went on to dominate in the pro ranks.
Kovalev is a man of few words but uses his fists to do most of the talking, he has one of the most devastating punchers in boxing with 26 of his 30 fights ending by way of knockout. He holds a big win over the great Bernard Hopkins and former champion Jean Pascal.
Kovalev-Ward is a stylistic match between boxer and puncher, and a title match up for the history books.
Two time Olympic women’s boxing gold medalist Clarissa Shields will also make her pro boxing debut on tonight’s card.
Sergey Kovalev vs. Andre Ward live on Saturday, November 19 HBO pay-per-view beginning at 9:00pm ET/6:00pm PT.
