Premier Boxing Champions returns to FOX on Saturday night with a championship double header featuring a heavyweight title main event Deontay Wilder vs Gerald Washington and a junior middleweight title co-feature Jarrett Hurd vs Tony Harrison. The PBC fight broadcast Free on FOX network TV.
When unbeaten hard hitting WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder steps into the ring at the Legacy Arena, in Birmingham, Alabama he will take on a fellow unbeaten boxer in former USC collegiate football player Gerald Washington.
Wilder (37-0, 36 KOs) is coming off a long layoff from a hand and torn bicep injury he suffered in his July 2016 fight with Chris Arreola which took him months to recover from, he now feels his right hand is stronger than ever and ready to land his signature power punch on Gerald Washington’s chin to test out his newly recovered hand.
Washington is known as El Gallo Negro (The Black Rooster) because he has an African American father and a Mexican American mother. He played football for USC and when his NFL career didn’t pan out, he tried his hand at boxing and fell in love with the sweet science. His record is 18 wins, 0 losses and 1 draw, with 12 by KO.
The co-feature will pit two junior middleweight contenders Jarrett Hurd and Tony Harrison in the ring for the vacant IBF 154-pound championship title.
Jarrett Hurd comes from Maryland with an unblemished record of 19-0-13 KOs, Tony Harrison is a Detroit native and has a record of 24-1-20 KOs, his only defeat was by TKO to Willie Nelson.
The winner of Hurd vs Harrison will not only capture a world championship belt but move on to bigger and better fights with the other champions in the division.
