Tonight she takes on the once beaten Mayer who is eager to set a path of her own and regain prominence on the women’s pound for pound list.
Jonas (14-2-1, 9 KOs) who previously held the WBC, WBO and IBF light middleweight titles, dropped down to welterweight and claimed the IBF belt with a stoppage win over Canadian Kandi Wyatt last year. She will make her first title defense and hopes to put on a show for her hometown fans.
Mayer (19-1, 5 KOs), is the former IBF, WBO, and Ring Magazine super featherweight world champion, and she is moving up to welterweight in hopes of becoming a two-division world champ.
