Even at the age of 45, Filipino ring legend Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, still looks explosive on the punch mitts as he trains for his upcoming April 20th exhibition boxing match with Muay Thai kickboxing great, Buakaw Banchamek.
Team Pacquiao posted a short video clip of the fighting Pride of the Philippines hitting the mitts with best friend and trainer Buboy Fernandez as he prepares for April 20th.
In the clip Pacquiao who retired after losing to Yordenis Ugas was unleashing combos with power and speed, he looked like he hasn’t lost a step. The signature right hook also known as “Manila Ice” as well as his vintage left straight were on display.
Pacquiao and his team are open to a possible return to the boxing ring depending on how he looks against Buakaw. Even though his match is an exhibition, he is taking the fight seriously and putting in a full camp as if he was training for a world championship fight. This was likely done to see if Pacquiao’s body at age 45 can still endure the rigors of a full camp.
If Pacquiao’s body holds up after a full training camp and he looks good in his exhibition match, the chances of him stepping back into the pro boxing ring are higher.
Boxing fans miss the Filipino southpaw, there is no other fighter today who has his relentless and explosive mix of quick feet, fast hands and explosive power. Pacquiao was known as a warrior in the ring and he would punch in bunches from odd angles making him a difficult task for any opponent.
